I love how River is planning on using her candy-making skills to bribe people (Jayne?) and how she's concerned about the animals captivity... of course she would be!

Very nice chapter, and can't wait for Jayne to tell Ellen about Kaylee!

Oh yes she would definitely bribe Jayne and I think, possibly the Captain. And you liked the bit about the zoo! I'm sure that would worry her :)

Stay tuned for the next set of Letters and see how Jayne approaches the matter *giggles*

I'm really concerned about Simon leaving Serenity; River's right, they desperately need an on-hand medic, and would Simon even be happy living on a settler's moon or an outpost?

This was great, though, and so very IC: The Captain was both unhappy and worried; naturally he covered that with anger and sarcasm and upset everyone around him.

Love the chapter as usual, but I have to admit I can't wait to see the Jaylee! *g*

I don't think poor Simon knows what he wants and I agree he wouldn't much like life on a Rim planet either. Maybe I have a solution to the problem *raises eyebrows*. I don't want to lose our medic...

Glad you thought Mal was IC, I always worry about that.

The Jaylee is coming, I promise :D You see I have turned you (slightly) to the dark side.

You see I have turned you (slightly) to the dark side.

Only in this fic, I promise, and only because Simon and Kaylee are just so wrong for each other. I never liked them as a couple, even in canon. *g*

In some ways, Simon's static perspective of his sister - seeing her as a crazy, dependant child rather than the young woman she's become - reminds me of how difficult it sometimes is for parents to recognize and acknowledge their children's maturation.

I wish I could get River to tell me the stories of my two antique Persian carpets!

I bet those rugs have a great history! wouldn't it be good if she could tell us?

I think you're right about Simon, he's just having a hard time seeing River any other way.

I always find it astonishing that people who have very little seem to find many opportunities to celebrate.

I think that may be one of the most true observations I could have imagined as well for why those with the least celebrate to tiniest of joys. Joy is measured not by it's size, but by it's recognition!
