Oh, that was so sad! *wipes eyes* Beautifully done and so very true. Simon would be lost w/o River, but a child just might help him pull through. And the crew, his family, won't let him hide away, either.

I'm so glad you liked it! It's my first attempt at a Simon on his own fic - I was so nervous.

*gasps* Good God, you actually made me feel sorry for Simon!

So true that he would be lost without River to watch over, and appropriate that Jayne and Kaylee's daughter was the one he found comfort in. Children are often where one finds the hope in tragic circumstances - a reminder that there's something good to cling to.

A beautiful sad piece, this. Made me all melancholy.

Sorry for the melancholia, hope it's better now? I made you feel sad and sorry! *dances* Well you know what I mean....

This was just excellent! And so very sad. *is fighting tears because I'm at work and they already think I'm crazy enough*

I hope that lots of people read this one because it was haunting and filled with truths. And of course, it had that Jossian twist of the unexpected--River's death being a mere accident and not something connected to all that she's been through.

You need to write more like this!

Wow thanks for the compliment! I have difficulty writing Simon as you know. And you thought it was haunting? whoo hoo! Hope the tears are gone? *pets you*

That was so sad and lovely! I'm really glad you had this as a Jaylee moment, it was really fitting. Nicely done!

Thank you, I felt sad as I wrote it. And I can never resist Jaylee, even when it's just a small touch!

That was sad! And I like it, because it plays into the direction I'm going with Simon in my big fic. But with a different angle.
