Thanks for reviving this!

What books are you currently reading?

a. The Great Divergence: America's Growing Income Inequality Crisis and What We Can Do About It by Timothy Noah

b. Day by Day Armageddon: Shattered Hourglass by J. L. Bourne

c. Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories Vol I by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

How Far In Are You?

1. 9/10

b. 1/4

c. 1/20

What's it About?

a. The Great Divergence is this series expanded into book form. It's interesting, but I think you can get the most important parts from the article.

b. This is the final book in a trilogy about the zombie apocalypse.

c. Sherlock Holmes canon

Are You Enjoying It?

a. Yes, although again, I think you could get the salient points from the article. I did learn that FDR wanted a maximum wage as well as a minimum wage.

b. Sort of. Bourne introduced an element I'm not crazy about.

c. I've just read the first half of A Study in Scarlet so it's too early to say.

What book are you currently reading?
Perfume by Patrick Suskind

How far in are you?
About halfway

What's it about?
A sociopathic young man living in 18th century France who has an unusual gift for detecting smells goes on a rampage to preserve a unique scent he becomes obsessed with very early on in the book.

Are you enjoying it?
It's interesting. I'm having a difficult time actually connecting with any of the characters but the point of the novel seems to be more about the fleeting quality of scent that is also ironically a fundamental component of what makes up a human soul.

I just read that a month or two ago. I thought it was interesting.

I agree it was difficult to connect to any of the characters.

Oh it's such a bizarre book, but I liked it more in retrospect than while I was reading it.

I just finished "A Shilling For Candles" by Josephine Tey. I absolutely love her mysteries and this one did not disappoint. Next up, the new "Heist Society" book, called "Perfect Scoundrels", byt Ally Carter. Yes, those are teen books, but I think they're well written and entertaining.

What book are you currently reading?
1) Tears in Rain, Rosa Montero
2) A Brief History of British Kings and Queens, Mike Ashley

How far in are you?
1) 32%, according to my kindle.
3) one sixth of the way through.

What's it about?
1) A sort of sequel to Blade Runner, it's set in a dystopic futuristic Spain where a series of murders are taking place. A replicant private detective is attempting to uncover the truth.

2) Well, it is literally all the British kings and queens since time started.

Are you enjoying it?
1) It's intriguing but long and drawn out.
2) There are bits and pieces that I am unfamiliar with, and that makes me happy.

I love "American Gods"! I have read it several times. You could read "Anansi Boys" next- its a sideways short of sequel, also very good.
