Hi, my name is trishtrash and I’m a fiction addict who is easily manoeuvred into genre ruts (crime and sci-fi, most notably), where I can remain entrenched for months, but am also easily distracted by shiny history things.

What’s the first book you remember really loving?
The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. In particular, the story of Riki Tiki Tavi.

Name three authors who feature strongly in your reading history...
Stephen King, Agatha Christie, P. G. Wodehouse

What’s the very next book you’re going to pick off your TBR pile?
Revelation by C. J. Sansom (I’ve been putting it off because I love the series, and want to eke it out)

What’s the very next book you’re thinking of buying/borrowing?
Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day by Winifred Watson or The Wise Children by Angela Carter

What’s the last book you read? What did you think?
Franky Furbo by William Wharton… kind of trippy, simply told, with elements of childhood fables, but also a layered look at faith, belief and identity. Clever, but not completely engaging.

I love Miss Pettigrew! Read her next, read her next!

Plus, it's short.

ROFL, sold.

Actually, I was going to buy both, anyway - I'm just pretending to be restrained with my 'or' ;)

I've seen the movie Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and it made me want to read the book. Maybe the next time I'm at the bookstore I will look for it.

Hi, my name is raidergirl3 and I’m a physics teacher and mom.

What’s the first book you remember really loving?
The Bobbsey Twins, which must have started my love of mystery series. Hey, they did solve crimes! (this question changes everytime I answer it since I can't remember not reading books.)

Name three authors who feature strongly in your reading history...
Stephen King, Ed McBain, Maeve Binchy

What’s the very next book you’re going to pick off your TBR pile?
either Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks or King Leary by Paul Quarrington

What’s the very next book you’re thinking of buying/borrowing?
Unless by Carol Shields should be in at the library very soon...

What’s the last book you read? What did you think?
Essex County: Ghost Stories by Jeff Lemire. This graphic novel was very good, very Canadian (in a good way - hockey dreams, leaving the farm for the city) Waiting for the first volume at the library, and hopefully, they'll order volume 3 soon.

The Bobbsey Twins! I grew up on those books, along with a similar series called (I think) The Boxcar Children. My mom had both sets from her own childhood, so I borrowed them a lot.

Hi, my name is Merle and I’m a YA fantasy reader/addict. I've branched out into adult fantasy and some contemporary YA, but otherwise my heart stays firmly in YA.

What’s the first book you remember really loving?
I think it was one of the Harry Potters. Prisoner of Azkaban, if I remember correctly.

Name three authors who feature strongly in your reading history...
Shannon Hale, Tamora Pierce and Juliet Marillier.

What’s the very next book you’re going to pick off your TBR pile?
Either The House on Durrow Street by Galen M. Beckett or a reread of The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner.

What’s the very next book you’re thinking of buying/borrowing?
Buy: Any of Maureen Johnson's books. Borrow: The Iron King Julie Kagawa.

What’s the last book you read? What did you think?
The Broken Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin. I thought it was awesome, and a bit better than The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, which is an impressive feat. It dragged in a few places, but not for very long, and the resolution to it all made it worth while. Definitely a good

Tamora Pierce! I loved (and still love) her books so much as a teen that I chased almost all her books in the library. I really like her Tortall universe (:

Hi, my name is pax_athena and I’m a picky reader, who feels most at home in various classics and science fiction corners, but does not mind fantasy and contemporary literature and will always try things labelled postmodern or intertextual.
What’s the first book you remember really loving? What I Saw by Boris Zhitkov, but I guess that nobody will know this one. I also adored Rudyard Kipling as a child and still do so, Rikki Tikki Tavi and Mowgli are still my heroes.
Name three authors who feature strongly in your reading history... Anton Chekhov, Neil Gaiman, Christa Wolf (oh, it's sooo hard to choose just three!)
What’s the very next book you’re going to pick off your TBR pile? Hundred Years of Solitude y Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I wanted to read something by him for a while now, so I'm really looking forward to it!
What’s the very next book you’re thinking of buying/borrowing? Dooms Day Book by Connie Willis for the ‘The Women of Science Fiction’ book-club.
What’s the last book you read? What did you think? Nora. A Doll's House. by Henrik ( ... )

Hi, my name is Liz and I’m an escapist novel reader who collects historical non-fiction in an attempt to feel more diverse and/or intelligent.
What’s the first book you remember really loving? The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. My dad read two chapters a night aloud to my brother and sister and I, and for whatever reason, I was enthralled.
Name three authors who feature strongly in your reading history... Agatha Christie, Georgette Heyer, and whichever syndicate writers were responsible for Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys.
What’s the very next book you’re going to pick off your TBR pile? It's nearly December, so it's time to start my annual attempt to read through the Lord of the Rings trilogy. (I've read Fellowship of the Ring four times now, have yet to make it through the halfway point of The Two Towers.)
What’s the very next book you’re thinking of buying/borrowing? Not sure at the moment - my shelves are a bit crammed with books I still need to get around to.
What’s the last book you read? What did you think? The Glassblower of ( ... )

I went on a Georgette Heyer high once and I really enjoyed her books! I think I'm a sucker for historical romance, heh. (:

Haha - I tend to go on Heyer binges every once in a while! She really was a fantastic writer. I know I'm a sucker for historical romance, but I just tell myself that at least I'm learning something as I go. ;)
