Your kid doesn't really like to shower too often. They're a teen, but, they've always been that way. He/She thinks 2 or 3 times a week is more then enough ( Read more... )

This. Explain the health implications (if it's affecting their health) and leave it. There's only so much you can fight a reluctant teen!

I only shower 3 or 4 times a week myself, I wouldn't have an issue with it.

My mother was a clean freak and this used to drive her nuts.

If his odor offends me he'll get his ass into the shower.

What if he passively resists by just not doing it?

He's otherwise a good kid and causes no trouble.

I have an embarrassingly sensitive nose and an equally embarrassingly sensitive stomach. I think if he's stinky enough and Mommy starts to gag, I hope I'll have raised him right that he'll heal Mommy's pain by scrubbing his stinky ass.

Uh 2 or 3 times a week is fine, first of all, and second of all if they are not stinking up the place it's really none of my business. If they were stinking up the place or looked greasy or something I would definitely say something. I am so not privvy to my teenagers showering schedules. I got better things to do.

I let it go, but insist that they shower before attending mandatory family events such as church, public outings as a family, etc. He can stink in his room if he wants, but he's not stinking in church with us or out at a restaurant.

Church is a mandatory family event?
