Gay Adoption Rights.

My office just had a huge fight on this topic.

Half the office says gays and lesbians should not be parents as a child seeing a same sex couple being intimate may screw them up or make them gay. Also they fear gays and lesbians may be considered a minority and get given preferential treatment over straight couples and get kids faster.

The other half ( Read more... )

Um, my question would be why any child would be seeing their parents (gay or straight) "going at it" in the first place.

Sorry the context of that was what if your child wants a glass of water and comes into your room while the parents are being intimate. It is something that could happen in any home.

That SHOULD keep the roommates out, but I doubt kids get it!

Um. Parents are parents. A loving, caring same sex couple is a better environment than a heterosexual abusive couple for any kids.

Do gay kids come from straight families? Yes. So why do people think that it's impossible to be straight in a gay family? You can grow up gay or straight wherever you're raised. It doesn't matter much.

Personally, I think people who are weirded out about same sex couple parents are just being homophobic.

I have never seen my parents having sex. I think it grosses kids out no matter what their parents' sexual orientations.

Yeah, half of your office seems homophobic. If a kid is adopted by an adult or adults who can provide a stable, loving environment, that is the best thing. Doesn't matter if it is one woman, one man, two women, two men, three men, a woman and a man, whatever.

I don't think sexual orientation has anything to do with what kind of parent someone will be. Who you like to fuck just doesn't come up much in the day to day asswiping, feeding and other care a child needs.

I think Dan Savage said that allowing gays to adopt is a sure way to make sure there is less gay sex going on. Kids tend to put a bit of a damper on things.
