How do you feel about a lottery where the prize isn't money, but paid services like in vitro, surrogacy, etc.? If you won such a lottery, would you tell the resulting child about it? If you were unable to conceive with your partner, would you buy a ticket?

I have no issues with it, aside from the misleading headline. All 3 of my kids are IVF, and when the time comes, we don't plan to hide it from them...after all, doesn't it prove how much we wanted them? I don't see how it being done via lottery is any different than paying for it yourself, in terms of whether or not to tell the resulting child(ren) about it. If it had been around when we were TTC, we may have bought a few tickets (depending on the price) while we were saving up for our procedures.

It depends? Do the couples need IVF a surrogate or whatever or are they just like "ooh contest".

I don't have a problem with this and yes I would definitely buy a ticket.

it's about $30US, and for that I'd definitely buy a ticket.

I would do it. And anyone who thinks that's creepy can suck a bag of dicks and trade me their ovaries that work (or pay for my fertility treatments).
