Say you donated a lot of money to a family that was expecting sextuplets or septuplets, but only one or two of the babies survived.  Would you want your money back?

If a family expecting higher order multiples receives a free SUV or house, but only a couple of the babies survive, should they give those expensive items back?  Does it make a ( Read more... )

No, the money was a gift, not a loan. It wouldn't be their fault the babies died. Plus, they could use for the money for the children who are still alive and possible save it for them as well.

No, again. The items were gifts.

Per your edit:

I would think it'd be a good thing to donate the extram items to families in need.

lol, more to add.

But I wouldn't harrass them to. It'd have to be their choice.

If I give someone a wedding gift, and on their honeymoon they have a terrible accident and one of them dies, I don't ask for the gift back!

A gift is a gift, it's not like they aborted 7 out of 8 after they got all the loot lol.

If they had decided to selectively reduce later on would you want your gift back?

lol, no.

the only thing that would make me mad, would be if they were faking the whole thing or something - but even then, if it's a gift, what are you gonna do.

Yes, I'd require 2/3 of it back.

Gifts should be unconditional. I'm sure the grief of losing multiple babies would be awful. They would still be able to use whatever was given to them.

They wouldn't really need like, seven cribs and carseats anymore.

In that case they should either donate them or find out if the people that bought them could return them.

I probs wouldn't either. Unless it was like my sister or best friend or something.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't donate money, but I'd probably donate baby items that were being unused.

True that. I'd donate whatever gently used shit I could find, but I'd do that to anybody who was having a baby.
