Perusing headlines a couple weeks ago I came across one that shows Snipes getting three years for not paying his taxes. I read the People Magazine and BBC News articles and though this result seemed a bit harsh. I then read the AP article which reveals things like he was trying to encourage people in his employ to not pay taxes, so obviously this

I'm guessing the implication from news outlets is that the public only has the attention span for news bites and prepackaged knowledge. I wonder what it is that they teach in journalism class these days? Is the new process:

(1) Come up with a message you want to convey
(2) Find subject matter that is some what close
(3) Read about it on wikipedia
(4) Find a couple of blogs that mention it, that fit your goals
(5) Write and publish article

I have to believe the editorial process has gone to hell too. About half the stories I read on major sites have as many misspellings and grammatical errors as my blog posts, and that's pretty damn pathetic.
