You've got the peaches, I've got the cream

{Hi y'all, I've missed ya.}

Scientists need to isolate and bottle the brain chemicals that are released when you read a really good story. (Endorphins? Dopamine?)

Earlier this summer I tried to get into Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series (late, I know). I managed to ignore the bumpy parts in the first book, but I got about 1/3 through the second ( Read more... )

You know, I think I could have gotten over the unorthodox vampire stuff, but the emo teenage girl drama was just a bit too much. And I used to be a teenage girl and I wasn't nearly that irritating.

Urk! Very good thing I did not pick it up. Teenage angst is not really me. Unless I'm doing it, which I'm not since I will shortly be 25 (scary!). The only teenage angst I've ever had was Adrian Mole and then I gave up after the third book.

(I have no idea whether Pterry's Tiffany Aching books count as teenage angst, they're teenage something, but Tiffany is too busy to do any angsting)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks ICE ROAD TRUCKERS is a total snooze this year. I do like FLASHPOINT though.

I really wish they hadn't moved them up north away from Yellowknife; maybe it would have been a bit stale after last year staying in the same place, but at least it wouldn't have felt as disjointed as this year is. And the previews are awful, worse than the WB used to do: total lies, it's like they make shit up and then you watch the episode and it's nothing at all like the preview. Sometime, I'll watch all the ones stacked up on my tivo, tho, to find out what happens with sweet Alex.

I hadn't known about Flashpoint since I'm so behind on LJ, but now that I've read about it I'll definitely check it out.

Then there's the time wasted on a fic that turns out to be crap, only I didn't realise until I was halfway through. There goes yet another hour of my life that I'll never get back.

Yeah, I hate that. Or just one that went in a totally unexpected (and to you) unjustified direction, and then it bugs the crap out of you for days. Not that that's ever happened to me or anything.

If all else fails, stare at Jensen Ackles. I think I can handle that. 8)

I find that the longer you stare at Jensen, the less you care about anything else. It's a law of nature or something.

It's uncanny, ain't it? He should hire himself out as a professional distractor or something.
