springtime hike in the foothills

Gerry and I went for a loooooooong overdue springtime walk in the foothills this afternoon. The last time I was out there was over the Thanksgiving break, with my parents, when everything was dusty, beautiful, and brown. Today? It was fabulous with colors popping out everywhere! Tis a shame we don't live near each other, I'm finding walking in nature to be a great joy to me right now too! I haven't brought my camera with so far, partly to take a break - I find I need breaks from photography, but also because if I do bring it, I want all the lens too and in that case I need a hiking friendly bag, it's next on my purchase list :)

I'd love to see poppies in person! That's such a lovely picture. It's not so colorful around here yet, but the greens are filling in very nicely.

I sometimes wish I had a dog these days though, because I do my hiking largely alone and those "not right" moments seem to happen frequently enough.

I LOVE the critter in #7. So adorable. Poppies are gorgeous, too. (I keep wanting to grow them here, and resisting because they're not native.)
