Let me read you a story about Jesus from John, chapter 7, that used to puzzle me.

We were just studying about the feast of tabernacles, your first listed. I'd always wondered why Jesus told his brothers to go and he wasn't going but later he went. Clarification was that the brothers went in the big group, similar to when Jesus was 12 and his parents and he had gone to Jerusalem in the big group. Jesus did not want to go that way because of the people still wanting to make him king before his time. He went privately, maybe going thru Samaria, which the group would have avoided. Interesting thoughts.
