somewhat rambling

For much of history, written correspondance was a strong part of relationships. Only in our century have telephone conversations and regular across-town (or across-country!) trips become possible. I really don't see LJ going away. Even if the company that owns it now went under, there would be someone else out there to buy it up because there's a huge marketing potential here. There's also always other message boards out there. :)

Oh....David and I met in January 1996. We started "dating" at the end of May of 1996. We were engaged middle of March 1997. The entire time that we knew each other between first meeting and getting engaged, we only spent less than 3 weeks face to face and that was all broken up into small chunks of time when he came to visit and I went down to visit (we lived 450 miles apart) and two phone calls a week (limited to a half hour each time). We wrote LONG letters to each other once a week. Anywhere from 10-15 pages each time. Letters were the backbone of our correspondence. We had a 2 3/4 month engagement.
