campaign issues

Previously, I would debate with people that the national leader doesn't matter so much; what really counts is putting the right men and women in Congress. This time around, I am beginning to disagree with myself. Even if he's just a figurehead, the national leader still matters! I am processing this now...

chippa linked me to the following quiz, which ( Read more... )

Is that the USMC standard-issue PSP?

Hehehe... The PSP's origins are a big secret. I'd have to kill you if I told you. Titus says that it has a wireless connection, which I think is AWESOME! He was actually emailing me when the picture was taken. :-)

I wasn't satisfied with the answer choices available, but still came out with Ron Paul on top. Was surprised that John McCain was my second over Tommy Tancredo.
Wasn't surprised that Dennis Kucinich was my top match among the Democrats but was surprised that Rudy Giuliani topped him, lol!

I felt like the answer choices were given based upon stated positions of the candidates ... and if we happen to hold an opinion that no candidate has stated yet, it wouldn't be a choice on the quiz. Make sense?

The fact that Ron Paul did not top my list makes me wonder if I need to adjust my opinion. Hmmm. Can't wait for the day that I get Kat Vallely top of my list!

I found when I was doing candidate surveys in my own run that the answer choices provided even to the candidates were very limited and set out to polarize the issues along a bias relevant to the agenda of the organization putting out the survey. There were some surveys that I opted not to respond to because they would have given a very wrong impression of my views and didn't allow room for comments ( ... )

Oooooooh, good points. Doing the quiz again and considering federal vs. state powers, the rankings are ... darn! Same front-runners, they're just shuffled in their rankings. Why can't we all get along. Hahaha! :-P

Thank you for posting this quiz. Assuming that it accurately represents the positions of these candidates, this seems like a great resource to at least begin researching who to personally support. I got Tom Tancredo as my #1 (score 51) with Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson as my next two (scores 45,42). Dennis Kucinich rounded out the bottom of the list.

Huckabee was the best Governor that Arkansas has ever had. I loved him when I was there.

WORLD magazine has been talking him up a lot. He's one of the good guys. :-)

I found another one where my results line up alot more with what I was already thinking, hehe ->

I also like that it provides links to info about the issues in case you don't know what the heck the question is even about, lol. (though some of the links aren't very helpful and at least one is very biased)
Ron Paul was a 95.10% match for me there with my next 3 being John Cox (71.57%), Tom Tancredo (70.59%) and Fred Thompson (59.80%). I was surprised to see Fred Thompson so high, I haven't looked into him much yet as I assumed he was a chump, lol. And I must admit I have no idea who John Cox is! Has he officially announced he's running? I haven't seen his name in any other list.

Again, beneficial because it drew my attention to some of the "issues" that I had never considered before! Waterboarding? What the heck? That was uncomfortable to read about, because it's one of those ugly things you'd rather keep behind closed doors and never talk about.

Duncan Hunter (81.97%)
Sam Brownback (80.33%)
Tom Tancredo (80.33%)
Fred Thompson (77.05%) - charasmatic fellow, that's what he has going for him!
Mike Huckabee (76.23%)

Ron Paul (63.93%) surprised me again. I really do think that my opinion needs a checkup, because I should be aligning with this dude. More education needed. :-)

I'm currently reading one of Ron Paul's books - A Foreign Policy of Freedom - and man is it ever enlightening! It's mostly a collection of his speeches on the house floor regarding foreign policy issues. I'm just entering his 2nd stint which is during the Clinton administration. I'm looking forward to getting closer to current events, but the history (which is relatively very recent, I suppose) is very helpful in understanding how things got to where they are today and why countries react to us in certain ways.
It really gives voice to a side of the story you don't often hear and shows the madness of "political compassion." (to make up phrases, lol)

I did this one too.

It tells me that Biden is my boy. I am ok with that, I suppose.
But get this…Hillary is #3!

What!?!

Kill me now please.
