Tonight I was at another dinner party, this one in honor of a young coworker's birthday. It was held at P.F. Chang's, an American-oriental restaurant, and unfortunately it felt 180 degrees different than last night's celebration at Olive Garden. Tonight, the food was bland, the service was so-so, the atmosphere was loud and crowded, and there were ( Read more... )

That's bizarre. Was the computer down or something? I mean, you'd think she'd let the computer figure out what tax and automatic tip is... huh.

It was straaaaaaaaaaaaange! The girl was a native English-speaking Anglo, the computers were fine (one was near the table so I kind of watched), it wasn't particularly understaffed, etc. Just one of those things that makes for a good story after the fact.

Sorry, dear, but I think that the "Pardon" guy just got replaced as number one in my book of strange servers. ;-)

I wish I had been there 'cause after I would have finished talking with the manager, I guarantee that everyone would have received at least a 20% discount for "pain and suffering!" That chic was insane!

I'm debating writing a friendly letter.... But usually I'm the type to walk away from the situation and then tell all my friends to avoid the place. Far more dangerous!

Twas easier to just pay cash ^_^ ... but I know what you mean. Perhaps she didn't know what she was doing. But still, asking how much you want to put on the card? Where did that come from? I was a bit confused about it too... I hadn't thought about recalculating the cost until you mentioned it, but I paid 13$ so I'm not too upset if they charged me more.

And bland food? I don't know about you, but mine wasn't "bland". Perhaps "typical Chinese" but bland? Maybe you eat at higher end restaurants more than I...

Hahaha, I eat in hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants more than you do. Yes, you're right, I'm used to things being very flavorful so last night was a surprise. I am glad that you thoroughly enjoyed your chicken! It was good, and thank you for the sample.
