singleness and thanksgiving

I am not a big fan of Christian book studies, so it was with reservations that I handed over the cash this morning to purchase The Rich Single Life that the Grace singles are studying currently. What a great surprise that was, to have the teaching turn out to be a blessing rather than the struggle you expected it to be! That unexpected joy really is a beautiful thing, yes, I understand what you're saying.

It's good to hear from you on this, Suzette. I'd skipped to the end of the book and read some sort-of testimonials from people, and one woman who'd lost a husband described how, with time, God restored to her an actual feeling of singleness, as opposed to the whole mindset of, "Those singles just don't understand, I've been there," that had been bittering her experience with the church. It was almost like how some people describe their restoration to secondary virginity after falling away. Just a beautiful thing, how in the case of losing a spouse (or secondary virginity in the other case I mentioned) God takes care of all the details, including the emotional details!
