Is anyone still here?

Now that Twitter is burning to the ground, I'm feeling nostalgic about the old days of LiveJournal. I met so many creative and interesting people via the LiveJournal community that I'm wondering if that's still the case today?

If anyone from the old LiveJournal years is still posting here, feel free to say hello. Who knows? Maybe we can bring back ( Read more... )

Yeah I was just toying with the idea for coming back to LiveJournal.. but it's not quite the same as when it was thriving in the early 2000s. Thanks for commenting though! I was so excited to see a comment on a new post I just write a few minutes ago! 😃

Hello!

I also often feel nostalgic about the glory days on here, which is why I stick around...

Every once in a while, there is a brief resurgence of interest and activity--so in light of current events, perhaps we can collectively sustain a return to the fold.

Ya never know. Maybe the fall of Twitter will be the second coming of LiveJournal. 😀

I'm on DreamWidth now, although just barely. You CAN post an image with text via a phone to the service, but it takes a few steps. And there are still no emoji reactions.

It all makes me miss G+.

I really miss Google+ too. The people there were actually nice and didn't hate the world. 💜

It's the little things like that, huh?

There are people I've followed, from LJ to G+ to Twitter (mr_hannemann there), even when I didn't know them in person. Maybe I'll follow them to Mastodon too. Will see.

My stay at MeWe was very brief. The functionality was fine, the ownership was not.

Hello there! I still have my LJ account because I still haven't moved all of my comics over to my WP-driven site. Offline life* is way too busy for me to post fun stuff right now but I'm glad to see a familiar face again!

*My Nan is 99 and I take care of her and my mom, as well as my 7 kitties, the oldest being 19. I have plenty of material for comic strips when I get time to get back to it! HAHA

Not just Twatter, I'd say. I've just ditched Instagloom, not only because it locked me out of my account for the umpteenth time and demanded personal and private information which I consider to be nobody's business (i.e. my mobile phone number), but it also suddenly started subjecting me to nothing but adverts. I was not on that cruddy site to look at adverts! LiveJournal is certainly vastly quieter than it used to be, but some of us will never willingly give up on it because it's manifestly superior to any of those other garbage (anti-)social media sites. There is real, meaningful communication here that you just don't get elsewhere.

I set up the the_lj_revival community with the aim of promoting the virtues of LiveJournal and pointing out the multiple failings of Facebook in particular and social media in general. You might like to have a look!

I'm not sure what the appropriate response to this is. I could say 'you're welcome', but I felt compelled to do it! 😀

Incidentally, I've had several new posts on my friends-page over the past two or three days from people who hadn't posted anything for months or years, and I'm wondering if they too have finally had enough of so-called social media and have decided to give LiveJournal another go. I hope so.
