It's blowing my mind lately that the message is not getting through clearly - it's really simple. Jesus: "Hi. I'm Jesus, I died so you can live. Believe that and come on and let's be happy and alive! I'm not judging you for the things you did in life." The message that that seems to get mixed up into is - Human: "I was a good person, if you're going to make me go to hell because I wasn't good enough for your standards, then I don't want to know a god like that anyway".
I really liked what the Pope had to say: “The church sometimes has locked itself up in small things, in small-minded rules. The most important thing is the first proclamation: Jesus Christ has saved you."
I've noticed that Cardinal Dolan (NY) has completely changed his tune. He was one of the most anti-gay Catholic leaders out there - very vocal. Now it just sounds like he's kissing up to the new guy, trying to keep his job. I believe nothing that he says is genuine.
Not that I ever put any stock into what he said anyway.
I kind of like the "believe what you want, just don't be a dick" philosophy.

We had a group of atheists evangelizing atheism at the Art Fair this weekend. I was intrigued by the juxtaposition.
