I've been reading a lot about this story since it's local.

The brother was out of line, clearly, but the biggest offender was the nurse. Gorley had the power of attorney for his husband, but she didn't even bother to check into it.

It just gets more angering the more I've learned. The partner would not have been in the hospital at all, had the brother not dropped by for a "visit" and interfered and had him put in the hospital without his husband's knowledge.

I was unaware of this, only learned of it through this story you have posted here. Why was he hospitalized in the first place? Depression?

Severe depression, which requires electro-shock therapy. This is not the first time he's been hospitalized, but this it was the brother who decided to put him in and not the partner, who has power of attorney.
