I had nothing to do at work today, so I decided to teach myself how to read Korean from this (incomplete) tutorial on WikibooksI like how logical it is! It's hard to figure out how all the different vowels sound, though, from just the spelling

I did the same thing for my trip to Korea. It was really easy to learn (at least short term - I don't remember it now). It was definitely helpful to learn, because the romanization system for Korean doesn't make much sense to me, and looking at names of places and train stops written in 'English' and listening to announcements... nothing seems to match up. But being able to read the Korean made it a LOT easier.
