I was chatting the other day with one of the operators yesterday at work. He's new, which brought up the obligatory question of where he had been working prior. There are some lesser known beaches and cities close by like Malacca and Sabah, both in Malaysia. The second one I heard has some cool rivers where you can go white water rafting. Check out this article from Wikipedia on Singlish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singlish
