I just found the site above. They say they give a test for beta-readers. Next one in 2006.

The tests are available all year around. We publish a new test every three months to allow people who have previously failed to try again, and see if they have improved.

Only 18% of people who take hte test pass it, so the directory only lists the best beta readers around :)

I'm glad I could be of service; the English language, heck all language, gets a bad rap when it's abused.

Maybe I'll break down and try the test...see if those college degrees taught me anything?

geez I am glad you weren't telling me I suck like a hoover....grins. In all seriousness though, it sounds like a wonderful thing. I wholeheartedly approve of betas as long as they know their business. I only beta for one person, that's enough for me.
