*You look like you could use some help. A man in a white mask with darkened features appears on screen. He tilts his head slightly to left thinking. And then the screen is overlain with static and quickly scrolling text*

I believe I would. [He opens the door, allowing her to exit before him. He closes the door behind them, and they make their way to the kitchen.
Now in the kitchen, he opens one of the cabinets and takes out the bottle of brandy and sets it on the counter.] Anything in particular, Doctor Brennan?
Good choice. [He held up a hand and shook his head.] I prefer mine neat, but thank you.
[He twists off the top and waits for her to set the glasses down.] How are you adjusting to being here in Wonderland? I couldn't help but notice that you have been quite busy in making your room more accommodating.
It's going okay. I've been trying to stay busy, and decorating my room has been something to focus on. I'm still trying to come to grips with this place and all of the... different types... of people here.
[She takes another sip and stares into her glass.]
I still catch myself wondering if I've just, I don't know... gone insane? Maybe I'm hallucinating, or this is an asylum and everyone else are just other patients, you know?
[Leaning against the counter, he folds his arms with his glass in hand. He looks down in his glass, the liquid lighter to him now that he's not wearing his sunglasses. He swirls the mahogany substance before taking a swig.] I felt the same when I first arrived. However, I have oddly enough gravitated toward one of the trolls. He very much interests me, and we seem to have become quite good friends. [He chuckles before taking another drink.]
At times I find myself wondering the same thing. Insanity does seem possible being in a place like this. And if we are in an asylum [he smiles] then it seems we, both logical scientists, are suffering from such a thing.
I was speaking with a troll too, a couple days ago. He's very interesting, though the species in general seems sortof scary. The one I spoke to was called Car-Cat. Who is the troll you've befriended?
[She wallows a sip and sighs deeply.]
They say that the line between brilliance and insanity is thin. But I guess if we are both in an asylum and just sharing a delusion, at least we're in good company.
[He actually laughs out loud at her reply and the way she pronounces the troll's name. If he were any other person, he'd probably think she was adorable. But alas.]
Karkat is the one I speak of. I don't know why, but he intrigues me more than most of the other residents here. I very much admire his tenacity and...honesty.
[At hearing her sigh, he understood that she was worried about being here and that she still didn't know whether to believe if Wonderland was real or not.
He finishes off the glass and sets it down.] I have heard that phrase, yes. I would very much like to think we are not insane, as it were, but as you mentioned, we are in good company. [That genuine smile bursts forth.] And I have to say, I was very glad to learn that another esteemed scientist had joined the list of inhabitants when you arrived.
Car-Cat is nothing if not honest. I respect that, even if his honesty can be at times rude or hurtful.
[She smirks.]
And yes, his horns do look like candy corn. Don't tell him I said that, though.
[She's quite flattered by Wesker's last statement.]
Thank you, Doctor Wesker. I was also very glad to hear that there's another brilliant scientific mind here. It's quite a relief to know that I'll have someone logical nearby in this crazy place.
That it can be. Another one of those fine lines, if you will.
[He pours himself another glass and thinks about what she had just said about the troll's horns. He had honestly never associated them with the candy, but he could see why she would say that.]
[He smirks]You know, you're right. I do know that the horns are specific to each individual. [He lifts his glass to his mouth and pauses, pouring on the charm even more as he looks over the rim of the glass.] And no need to worry; I won't say a word to him. [He sips the brandy, all too proud of his deceit.
And with the compliment he receives in return, he is all too sure that he has accomplished one of his manipulative objectives.]
My door will always be open, so to speak, if you need an ear or assistance in any way.
["My door will always be open, so to speak, if you need an ear or assistance in any way." She smiled, hoping it was the alcohol making her face hot and not that she was blushing.]
Thank you. I'll have to take advantage of that, even if I don't have a problem.
[She pushed her glass forward for him to refill.]
I guess I could get used to being here. I mean, this place could be much worse, couldn't it?
[He watched her closely, noting the slight change in her demeanor. While he himself was not experiencing any effects from the alcohol, it seems the same could not be said for Brennan.]
I would be all too glad to oblige.
[He opened the bottle and refilled the glass. He picked it up and held it out to her, nodding to her latest statement.] It very much could. Other than not being able to return to our worlds, Wonderland has proved to be quite accommodating to any and all needs.
[He pauses.] Have you found publications necessary for your research in the library since our little tour?
[Taking another sip, she couldn't help but feel grateful to have someone who actually seemed to want to be her friend. In this place. Only after a few conversations, too. She still wasn't entirely sure if it was a great idea to actually make friends here, but the alcohol was quickly dissolving her inhibitions
( ... )
[He couldn't help but actually smile as she spoke about her work. This Doctor Brennan was definitely different than other scientists, more specifically anthropologists, that he had come across. The way she spoke about her work, he could tell she was quite dedicated. It was also apparent that the alcohol was allowing her to divulge as much as she was at this point.]
Yes, it would be quite difficult for you study any sort of remains here. But it seems you have already decided what do to do occupy your time during your stay. [He topped off his glass once more.]While I'm not one to listen to music, I don't mind a good jazz piece every now and then to...take my mind off things.
[He tilted his head slightly, studying her, wondering just how much he should tell her about his work. Like with everyone else, he decided not to go too much into detail.] At first, it was going quite slow. But since bringing on an assistant, I believe I am now on track. [Seeing her empty glass, he holds up the bottle to offer her more.]
[She offered her glass for a refill and then took another hearty swig.]
I love music. Any kind. Rock, techno, jazz, hip-hop, blues, tribal chanting, europop, anything instrumental... just anything. I can appreciate any kind of music. I can appreciate the anthropological value of any music.
[She takes a drink and sighs.]
So an assistant? Very helpful. I have six, all of them graduate interns. None of them are nearly as brilliant as my former assistant Zack, though.
[A momentary flash of sadness crosses her face but is quickly replaced by a curious expression.]
So who's this assistant of yours? Have I met them yet?
I definitely understand where you're coming from. Your line of work definitely allows you to indulge in and appreciate all forms of music. Alas, I cannot say the same for biochemistry. [He smiles and finishes off the entire glass in one go and sets it down on the counter.]
Six assistants? I would have to say you are quite lucky, Doctor Brennan. [An impressed look appears...but then is replaced by one of mixed confusion and sympathy when he sees her expression.] Am I to guess this Zack no longer works for you?
[At her question, the expression changes to one of neutrality.] You may have; her name is Spencer Hastings. [The line face actually grows into a small smile.] She's quite dependable as a lab assistant.
