This is interesting: Buffy encounter her first human death. It brings the entire horror of her situation home, like Willow finding the kids in the A/V room.

I always got the impression Giles was something special, just from what Kendra said about her Watcher, and how Gwendolyn Post and Wes acted around their charges. I don't know why Giles was different, but I'm totally gonna explore it once I get there.
