I've been saying (for a few years now), that things in this business come in clumps.  Rejections, of course, come in groups of ten, but then you get six or seven sales in a row to even it out.

The fact that some of the nicest people on Earth are in this business.  Sometimes, the rejections get us down.  We think that editors hate us personally, and that the writing world is full of people who just don't care.

So, after the news of my appearance in Greek, I've added a fourth language to those that I will be published in.  "Tenth Orbit" (number one among my all-time greatest hits) will be appearing in Spain, but not in Spanish.  The story will be published in Galego at the online magazine Nova Fantasia - and the response time was just brilliant.  Not sure ( Read more... )

When a reviewer says that my story mines a vein also explored in Asimov's, yet does so better than the big-name mag's piece, I consider that reviewer my new favorite person in the universe.  You can read the review of Albedo #37 here.

Today is Argentina's birthday (equivalent to the 4th of July in the US), where we celebrate throwing off the Spanish yoke.  It's also a bright, sunny day, even if it is freezing outside.  So no day-job work.

We have a lunch in a little while, which will be impossible to get out of, but the later afternoon should be free to be enjoyed.

Every writer has story ideas that hit them out of the blue.  I normally get these inspirations (posssibly neutrinos setting of my neurons? Today is congressional election Sunday in Argentina, so things are unusually quiet as everyone goes about their civic duty (voting is obligatory here).  It looks like our ridiculous and embarrasing ruling party (their motto seeme to be that everyone who knows how to read and wtite is an enemy of the people)  is going to lose its hold over congress ( Read more... )
