Not much to say today, other than to celebrate the fact that:
A) It's Friday.
B) Monday is a Holiday in Argentina.
I know there's a four-day weekend coming up in the US, so going neener-neener will only boomerang on me, but I must admit it's tempting. maybe I'll neener-neerner the Europeans reading this :P
Anyhow, have a great weekend, all!

Funny how the Monroe Doctrine only comes into play
when a European power acts contrary to US interests...

France and Britain were essentially blockade-running
to avoid customs duties on their products sold in Argentina.
The Argentines stood up to them, and put a stop to it.
Under the Monroe Doctrine, the US should have been suporting Argentina,
but didn't care to pay customs duties, either, and thus would have preferred that Argentina lost.
Also, the US was occupied at that time with arranging the eventual annexation of Northern Mexico,
and was not sufficiently adroit to uphold the sovereignty of one nation
while dismantlng the sovereignty of another.

I actually think they've probably just invented it to make the masses happy. Argentina is the country with most holidays on the planet...
