Wickets and Wodehouse

  First off, full disclosure means that I have to admit that, as a spectator sport I will always prefer baseball to cricket.  Nevertheless, I understand that days at a cricket match are an even more relaxed way to spend summers.  Plus, a sport that has lunch as a central feature will always score a few brownie points in my book ( Read more... )

Cricket in bits I can take, but yeah, not even the master can make it interesting for long. (But then sports in general bore me cold.)
I will admit that watching Lagaan actually demonstrated what Wodehouse meant, and to my surprise I kinda followed the game, just based on having read so many school stories. I'd never seen it until I watched that film.

I applaud. I can take cricket on a lawn, with tea available, or even as a player. But in a film? I'm not sure I'm up to it...
