My introduction to Mae West

For those keeping score at home, yes, I'm still watching the 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.  I've recently viewed She Done Him Wrong (1933), a king of monument to immorality and double dealing, a final bonanza protest against the Hays Code.  It is delightful to watch Mae West fly in the face of the moral conventions of the day - or, more ( Read more... )

Mae West was brilliant in all ways. She's one of the women I truly look up to. I'm not saying she was an all around great person, but she was great in many ways.

Mae was someone to be admired, as anyone who pushes the envelope.

She was pushing the envelope at personal physical risk to herself (I doubt being arrested is ever a gentle process). I admire that greatly.

And the word count -Thanks!! I've reached the point where I'm not under much pressure, because I'm generally pretty good at getting the wordage in...
