[Zhaneel has spent the last day getting settled in and letting her eye heal from its run-in with a chair. Having gotten to know her capybara (now named Kechara), she made a point of scouting the area with a few low height flights
( Read more... )
[Zhaneel is quite happy to hear familiar voices on this thing, lemme tell you. She trills out a soft exhale, recognizing the Warrior's voice. With the voice is the recollection of that full suit of armor as well.]
I can imagine the armorrr you wearr makesss moving through jungle a bit cumberssssome, yesss? Although ssspeed it not insssstantly a correlation to good ssscouting.
[Her facial feathers raise in an unseen gryphonic flush and she churrs softly, bobbing her head.]
I am well, yesss .. it wasss good to get back into the airr, thank you.
I have not yet tried, but I imagine there will be certain difficulties involved. [He doesn't have a lot of experience with different terrains. All the world fragments that he's seen had only solid surfaces.] But what you say is true. Speed is not everything.
[Have a soft thrum from way down deep in her chest, Warrior; think of it as a purr, but a bit higher pitched. You are good people and she's glad to know you.]
In any case, I would not mind the company sometime in an area less forested. There seems well enough of this place to explore in the future.
You are right there. [The Warrior is slightly amazed by the size of this place, and it seems that they are restricted from exploring the full limits just yet.] I have not seen a place so vast before. [There's a brief pause.] Not that I remember.
[Anyway.]
I would be glad to take you up on the offer of company. It would be foolish to travel alone in a strange place. [He enjoys your company, Zhaneel, really. He's just...not very good at expressing that.]
Velgarth isss large asss well, but I do not yet know the full size of thisss place. I think it thisss land might be ssssmaller, but will not known until given the full chance to invesstigate.
[His amiable agreement is welcome and she trills softly, feathers rustling.]
We are of a like mind .. until we know more about thisss place and itsss monstersss, I do not think solitary travel is the best option.
Then I hope you find someone to fly with soon. Any information that we may learn could help us when the time comes for battle.
[The Warrior finds you very peaceful, Zhaneel. He's almost smiling on the other end of the comm.]
We should ask our hosts for further information. It would be good to know if there is anywhere that can be considered safe, or know from which direction we might be attacked.
Flying or otherwise .. I think it is more a matter of the companionship.
[She trails off, realizing how positively pathetic that sounds after she's said it. She'd managed well enough on her own for years. The only reason she was craving companionship now was that she'd made friend and found a mate just before coming here. She'd been alone before .. what was wrong with her?
She couldn't help but find Warrior's presence comforting and very welcome, though ..
She shakes herself and focuses on what he is saying.]
I agree. There is no saying that simply asking will not warrant any amount of information. Places that are known to be attacked more than others and the like.
[I'm afraid years of being made to feel like she's less than everyone else has had its toll on Zhaneel, Warrior. She really doesn't know that it's okay to ask for help and okay to even need help. The gryphon doesn't really get that it is always okay to call on your friends for this kind of a thing.
Exactly this kind of a thing, really. She was really just starting to accept herself and had warmed to the friendships she'd made (and mate she'd gained) when she came here. Way to set a girl back a few steps, Vertiline.
She makes a soft non-committal sound and then pauses, ear tufts flicking one way and then the other.]
There are pods directly behind the temple .. I am outside my own right now.
[She was actually currently sprawled rather comfortably in a rather sunny spot with her capybara curled up alongside.]

[When he finds out about this, he will assure you very firmly that you are not less than everyone else, and also that it is very much okay to need help. On the second thing he's a stinking hypocrite, of course, but...yeah.]
I will see you shortly.
[Off clicks the comm!
Shortly afterwards, the Warrior will show up near Zhaneel's pod, his still-unnamed capybara in tow (he figures that it might as well get some fresh air). He's ditched the cape and the helm, but otherwise is still in his armor. Old habits die hard.]

[He is certainly welcome to give it a good old fashioned try. She was getting better about all of it before she came here, but yeah .. old habits and such. She is very likely going to have something trigger her at some point. :(
She does not respond before his communicator cuts off, instead choosing to wait patiently where she is. The sun is warm, a counterpoint to how it was just beginning to cool off in the land of Velgarth, the summer beginning to bleed into the fall. Her capybara is snuffling around a bit and it pauses and looks up at the same time Zhaneel herself catches the hint of approaching footfalls.
Her tail curls and uncurls lightly and she turns her head to watch Warrior making his way over to her. She seems relaxed and pleased to see him, head bobbing once in return greeting.]

[Aww, Zhaneel.
He'll settle himself down beside her, back straight and probably giving the impression that he's going to leap up at any moment. Sorry, Zhaneel, he doesn't really know how to relax.]
I must admit, this is the most pleasant potential battleground I have ever seen.

[Zhaneel looks sidelong at Warrior as he moves to sit next to her. He appears so regal, even without his cape and helm. She glances around the pods at his words, chortling softly with a single nod.]
I would agree .. I have not been able to relax as such in quite some time. It is both welcome and disarming. [She shakes her head, sighing softly.] I both wish to relax while there is time to, and do not wish to regret such actions.

[She makes a soft sound in the back of her throat and then, after a silent moment of studying the man before her, nods her beak once.]
I agree .. Though I would prefer to have a face to put to our enemies, this time also allows those Called to find a semblance of calm before the given storm.
[So saying she sighs softly and slightly fans her wings, carefully stretching firs tone and then the other, resettling them along her back.]
I .. I am not used to being idle. We were not afforded such luxuries within the Wings..
It is good to hear that you have recovered enough to fly, Zhaneel.

That is understandable. We have all arrived unexpectedly, and in many cases without anyone we know. It is difficult not to feel isolated and alone.
[There's a rustle on the other end of the comm.
Where are you?
