LMAO! OKay someone says that in the books she actually chose it even though the hat was like LOL WHATEV NOOB YOU'RE RAVENCLAW.

Of course the books would be pants if she was in Ravenclaw and it wouldn't work, but still FULL LOLS that that's really the only reason. xD

All these points seem to boil down to "because only Gryffindors are allowed to be awesome".

If Hermione was in Ravenclaw, she could still be brave and do all those awesome things, while still being "the smartest wizard of her age".

Okay so two things:

1) I CANNOT EVEN BELIEVE This inspired you to actually comment on livejournal. xD xD

and

2) She still IS the smartest wizard of her age, not being in Ravenclaw doesn't mean she isn't... But she would be with people who were more learning oriented and such and less hang the rules I'm gonna play death chess...

Because even though she's smart, she's also brave and passionate, and if given a choice between "Doing the Right Thing" and "Learning Something New", she'd choose the moral action... hence dropping out of school in her 7th year to help Harry.

My guess is that it's because she's brave and witty. That's not to say that Ravenclaws aren't, but she's pretty ballsy, you've got to admit. Seems like the Ravenclaws don't really rock the boat much.

Anyways, she is not in ravenclaw because... officially, "she's so brave!" and unofficially, "how could my little trio get to always be together if they were in different houses?"
