Mar 21, 2009 10:29

I recently got a pm from a 'Zosha Sugarman' on flickr about being in a BJD Book project. Of course I'm interested, and WOOO flattered, but I wondered if anyone knew anything about it already or had heard anything ( Read more... )

Yeah I was pretty skeptical too, hence the post. ^_^;; Especially with that name! *laughs* The publishing house is valid, as is the name of the author but who knows if they are in fact attached to the project.

My main concern would be what kind of tone the book is being written in and the production values etc, really.

Avidly awaiting to hear what you find out!!

THANKYOU FOR CHASING THIS UP!! *hughug*

Maybe she got married? To, um, a confectioner? O_O;; xD

I'm thinking it looks basically like a credit excercise, on the whole. So it's basically do we want to appear in a book or not. My stuff is all listed as CC I _THINK_ so either way. BUT I mean if we can get paid or actually get free copies of the books then that'd be awesomesauce.. xD

Someone on radiotrash's entry about this said she does make the book but you never get the free copy they promise, nor any credit for your photos, it seems. I'm deleting it since I got it too. I'd rather make my own book and get credit AND the profits too lol.

Hrrmmmm..! I went to check out the post but I guess she defriended me due to my lack of constant replyage -- I'm SO BAD at keeping up on my elljay, especially cause my friends list doesn't always show everyone's posts, so that's totally understandable. xD

I was thinking about messaging both the supposed author and the publishing house, but I don't want to bombard them if jamiest is already doing that kind of thing.

THANKYOU for the infos, my stuff is all up Creative Commons either way so they could go ahead and use my photos but would have to give credit if they were being above board... Hrrmmmm

Friend's reply:
I got a very similar email actually. Mine was from RainbowUnicorns (Zosha Armstrong)- she's not the author but she did say it was Nancy Mullane. The top part of mine was different but 2/3rds of it looked the same.

I've looked into Nancy Mullane on Google and she is a reporter. I checked up on Chronicles Publishing and it is based in San Francisco.

Nicolle, I was invited in the past to participate in a similar kind of project and my artwork was chosen for some Faerie, Mermaid Art book. I didn't expect to see a cent from the author but she did promise me a free copy of the book. I never heard from her again- I know she made money off people's art and she's the only one who profited from the book. So I'm going to decline this offer.

Just remember, if you do decide to participate, this is all about credit.
