Would you believe that someone bought this book as a gift to a dear friend of mine when she was seriously ill in hospital??!! Naturally, she wasn't in the mood to read it, so I took it home and attempted to read it but didn't get beyond the first chapter, finding it overly sentimental and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. It may have partly been due to the context in which I found the book in my hands, but it wasn't my thing at all. I feel it's in a similar vein to (so called) Chicken Soup for The Soul (yuck!) books, except that it is a whole novel.
My friend got better, btw :-)
