How they do love to steal pics without credit...

I found this community: fetishgothdolls which has a whole bunch of dolls that aren't credited. I recognize a few and can link to where they're from to try and educate these guys but I don't know where all of them are sourced from. There's clearly some softly she walks dolls there, and some volks dolls but like, Read more... )

Well, at least, as far as we can tell, they aren't claiming that the dolls belong to them or using the images in a profitable way.

That is true, so I guess that's two small mercies.

Although the iconners are then using the images (and who knows where else they're going) with a credit to the community which then has no credit to the originators. That coupled with the fact that the use of pics in this way are probably breaking terms of use etc is kinda ugh >_<;;

*hugs* I just thought people should be aware that its there is all. ♥

Its pretty easy for one of the rest of us to post where the images that are yours are from, the other ones though from my perspective isn't so easy... Atleast 'Enquiring Minds' can search google for your site name from your image "watermarks".

I do appreciate you posting it ^^ I'm glad to know ~ even if it is annoying :)
Maybe you should ask on DOA ~ I'm sure the other pictures could be ID'd over there.

I considered doing that first, but then I was worried that too many people knowing would start some kind of flame war or something. Not a reflection on DoA rather the sheer number of people can sometimes start things that can't be stopped no matter how many good intentions go into the mix...

I'll probably take up your suggestion though, and post it there tonight after I get home... Its easier to sneak elljay at work than it is to sneak DoA! XD

Its ironic, they ask credit for few simple avatar; when they dont give credit to the creators of original images; who made the *real* work

They pic one image from here and another from there, 100x100px and then to asking credit; for me is the same than stealing =/

Basically, yes! I'm not TOO stressed about it being the promotional images (their easier to give credit for later on) its still bad but not AS bad as the ones that are personal pictures, you know?

I have stuff uncredited from time to time as well as some of my icons, but it doesn't worry too much.

It's the internet after all :)

I'm not allowed to view that entry. Its protected... Atleast you're practicing safely. ^_^

I've got a few uncredited icons but in my icon comments I ask that if someone knows where its from can they please tell me, and that has actually worked many times in the past. And I always credit the tv show for a cap etc. Just because there's millions of people who don't understand that the word copyright doesn't give you the right to copy stuff willy nilly doesn't mean that I have to join the ranks of them nor does it mean that I shouldn't try to educate those who are clueless. :D

True, but sometimes it's useless to fight. I've made icons that have turned up in the farthest reaches of the internet and if I was making money from it I'd be pissed but I'm not, so I don't mind.

And yes copywright is something I respect, I credit others to be safe :)

Does this link work? Made that a month ago and it's been on 4chan to somethingawful to myspace to livejournal to other places to. I'm half expecting an ebaumsworld sticker on it soon.
