I miss the wine, too. I was so happy to discover bottles costing six Euros were finer than bottles costing $30 in the U.S. I also tried, because I wouldn't have believed it worth it, a 300 Euro bottle of wine at Tour d'Argent. True, I still don't think such things are worth it ... but, on the other hand, I totally groked the undefinable reason why super-expensive bottles of wine are actually amazing compared to "regular" wine priced for us mere mortals.
(Oh, and 300 Euros was definitely the low-end of the expensive wines at that restaurant. They have one of, if not THE, largest wine cellars in Paris. The wine list was thicker than 5 telephone books.)
What WAS worth it was the entire experience (including the uber-wine) of the glorious, extravagant French dinner with my sweetie, with our stupendous view of the sun setting behind Notre Dame.
Le Sigh.
I trust you and Remi had some romantic adventures of your own. ;)
I found a bottle of Loire Valley wine at Trader Joe's that was inexpensive. First taste I about died. HEAVENLY! I need to hit up BevMo and see if I can find more of the various wines we tried while there.
And 300 euros? That's CRAZY!
I wish we had really treated ourselves to a fancy dinner while in Paris. The closest we got was lunch at the beautiful restaurant at the Orsay.
And yes, Paris really is so romantic. Sigh... walking up the Eifel Tower in a downpour I will never forget. Among many other things. ;)
