подумал, что вам может быть интересен внутриязыковой "перевод", сделанный W.D.Snodgrass'ом в педагогических целях в книжице De/Compositions (даю параллельно для удобства сравнения):
A certain man lived in a very nice town
Where bell-sounds tolled the hours and days.
While one by one the seasons passed
He sang his sorrows, he danced his joys.

А в чем педагогический смысл внутриязыковых "переводов"?

Snodgrass преподавал поэзию и так как в Америке ссылки на авторитеты сами по себе недостаточны то de/composition - метод донести то студентов уникальность определенных поэтов. "anyone lived in a pretty how town" включен в книге в раздел "The Singular Voice" и вот объяснение про Дикинсон которое приложимо к Каммингсу:
"The wide appeal of Emily Dickinson's poems clearly lies not so much in original ideas or beliefs, but in their projection of personality. The poems included here establish a seemly, almost prim, decorum which, either through shocking images, unconventional usages, or a willful skewing of familiar stanza forms, later evolves into lines of great force. The de/compositions replace such characteristics with trite, fifth-hand effects."
