I'm surprised at how few people I've seen around wearing poppies this year. There were a reasonable number of people wearing them in town at the weekend, but at work I've only seen one other person wearing a poppy. I do feel a little bit like the odd one out.

Not much here in the States, I'm afraid. The only fighting on US territories was in Hawaii and Guam. There are few scattered memorials, but they're rather generic, to all US troops that participated in WW2. Far more interesting are the museums/memorials to the Japanese-Americans who were put into concentration camps until the end of the war--they offer a totally new story of how citizens of a country can be treated by the government.
