This seems very close in some regards to personomancy.

True, except that in personomancy you work on a personal level too, can change the appearance you wish to put on, and in personomancy you channel your appearance into the powers of what you wish to appear.

(We did run personomancy past the player first, I have to say, but it wasn't the paradox he was going for).
