The Hobbit Part Deux

It was very enjoyable. Lots of action. Much of which I don't recall from the book at all. but at least I now know how it has managed to extend to three parts.

I enjoyed it more than the first one. I liked all the part with the dwarves, especially in Laketown. I found the Gandalf parts dragged though.

Gandalf does come across as a bit of a moron - he's always getting captured and trapped in places where he needs rescuing.

And there was more action and less running in this one. I loved the barrel escape from Mirkwood.

My husband has never read the book and he was surprised and delighted by the barrel escape.

I liked it too. It was a lovely, AU fanfic version. But, overall, I thought it was enjoyable to watch. Glad you liked it!

Very much the AU fanfic version with MarySuriel.

I'd like to go and see it again - it was very fast-paced. And Stephen Fry was gloriously slimy.

I enjoyed it! PJs rollicking AU fanfic, LOL!

How fun to see you again! I miss seeing your posts! I was thinking about you the other day, and missing new stories from you!

Such a fanfic version - mind you, it probably had to be to make it watchable!

I miss writing, too - it was fun. And so much good stuff to read.

Well, there was already a delightful more or less non-AU version made many years ago. The Rankin-Bass animated version of TH was fairly true to the book, was sweet and whimsical for children, and very pretty. Nice music, too. Quite watchable, especially with a little kid to watch it with. (Our son was a toddler at the time.)

But it did have to be much more AU and somewhat darker to fit with the world PJ created for LOTR. I quite liked most of it except for a few things. But they'd have been the same nits I'd have picked in a fanfic that I otherwise enjoyed.

If you ever decide to get back into writing LotR fanfic, you'll still have at least one reader waiting for you!
