-but where's the gentleman gone-

Sep 02, 2009 05:04

..As I expected. Runes starts today, and the classroom is virtually unprepared, the sink clogged, every surface dust-ridden, the supplies still boxed up, and my office still full of spiders. Pity that elf-magic can't be trusted around the mummy dust....

Two days into the year and I already need a break. I must be getting soft.

*paces, fuming*

*Reggie appears some time later, looking a little disheveled, with a black eye and holding only a quill*

I tried to bring the mop, but he's a dirty fighter. Got me in the eye. I'LL SHOW HIM!

*sigh, turning to step through the desk* Very well, then, we'll start with the quill and a clean bit of parchment.

Might I inquire, at this stage, how familiar you actually are with Ancient Runes?

Umm...I remember some from school...I think....maybe.

*he scratches his head underneath his hat as he tries to think*

Do you recall that the instrument of writing and the medium upon which a spell is written can have a distinct impact on the efficacy of a piece of written magic?

*tries to simplify* ..For example, a hover-charm written on vellum with a silver pen will not work as well as one written on rice paper with a feather.

A free period so early into the school year?

Also, Professor... In regards to the conditions of the classroom, would it not be possible to somehow use the power of the runes to keep the dust off the surfaces?

Enjoy it while it lasts.

True. It is, in fact, generally warded in that manner, but the wards are disabled over the summer... ironically enough, to allow the classrooms to be cleaned and re-aired. They'll have to be replaced before they'll do any good.
