Ego boost, with the right mentality. Knowing that you're more intelligent and thoughtful than some dumb fuck who praises the lord with a capital L. I more so scoff at them at treat them like second-class citizens, than anything.

I started a course at college a while back in Anthropology, there was a creationist in it, and she clearly stated that she wouldn't believe anything the course presented to be fact as fact. I'm still scratching my head, even after a year, wondering as to why she would attend a class of presumed-fiction.

Ya know, if I were posting in that thread I'd probably answer something to the effect of, "Or what, I mean, duh." Because that is the actual answer; government isn't inherently either. It's what government does, the actual policies and actions, that are the problems or solutions.

While I suspect that it is possible to have a real discussion of politics, I think most of the time we have people on both sides expressing their opinions and expecting people to acknowledge that they're right rather than going in with an open mind and willing to really assess other opinions. Neither side really wants to learn anything new or to see things from a different angle, so it ends up being something of a pointless exercise.

Then again, I post on drivel nobody cares about, so what do I know? :)
