It's probably worth remembering that "friend" in LJ-ese does not mean "friend". It means "person whose LJ posts I want to read every day". That's a very different thing. I've removed people's journals from my "read every day" list in the past because they're tending to post exclusively about areas of their lives that I'm not interested in, because they tend to use lots of graphics with no cut-tags, or perhaps because I only added them to the list in order to learn more about them, and now feel I've learnt all I wanted to. None of these things imply approval or disapproval of them as a person, nor like or dislike.
Yes, I have wondered. I also wonder why people I've never heard of friend me from all over the damn world LOL.
Honestly, for me to unfriend something there has to be a reason. Some kind of disruption to the friendship that I feel is not repairable would bring me to that point.
