Flat hunting, part 1

For the past few years the wifemonster and I have been contemplating buying a flat. We'd both lived in rented accommodation for the majority of our lives, and had come to realise that we'd been staying put in once place for an awful long time. We moved into that flat in 2003 and 1) were bursting at the seams and 2) really wanted to have furniture

do realtors in the UK not get commission or something? because even if you ran into *one* agent who was disinterested and idiotic, that's fairly impressive. or maybe they're less techno-savvy and don't do the US thing where they just email you a link to an aggregation of available homes on their website? huh.

TBH I think they just wanted us to go away so they could sit and wait for someone who wanted a one of those good-chunk-of-a-million quid houses instead.
