So what basic kind of educated people are the ones who use what they've learned doing something completely unrelated to the education of others, and take no activist role in the service of promoting learning or ignorance? Seems to me that's the majority.
Also seems to me the overwhelming majority of the ones promoting ignorance are themselves ignorant. They believe in religious doctrine over critical thinking because they don't know any better, having lived their own lives by doctrine.
It doesn't require a lifelong avocation to "encourage' education - it can be as simple as an offhand 'So what college are you applying to?" question to a teenager, or the opposite "Why would you waste your time going college?" It can be just an attitude that rubs off on your children.
The majority of the ones promoting ignorance are themselves ignorant - but they are encouraged and supported by the wealthy and educated - how else would they get such constant positive media exposure?
