My google-fu is failing me - if I buy the Sims 3, do I need to have Sims 1 & 2 installed to play it?

Cause for some reason best known to themselves 1&2 won't install on the laptop or the computer. I assume to laptop doesn't have enough memory, and maybe the computer is too...? IDK. It's very annoying...

Sims 3 can be played on its own! BUT it has very, very strict computer requirements (mine can't fun it) so check this site first:
