You have good reason to be leery, in my opinion. The history of science is replete with serious errors that had tragic results (Pandora's Lab). Social Science is more prone to such erors than the physical sciences. It is harder to design studies that do no not violate human rights and it is much harder to claim objectivity,

I like my science with a strong dose of neo-Platonism or gnosticism!

In the development of spirituality, are there 5 stage, as suggested by students of monotheism, or are the 7 or more (Chakras), or 10 as suggested by some forms of Buddhis, or are stages irrelevant-you are with Tao or you are not?
