Good luck with your sponsor. It is not unusual for people to travel these like your daughter does. It sounds like a really lovely trip though I shy away from organized tours. I guess we have gotten used to adventuring on our own. She should have a great time with that route!
Daughter is getting to be cruise veteran (Hawaii, twice, Mexico, the Caribbean). There is a group of about four couples who often travel together and have become good friends. She has greatly enjoyed each one. She brought her younger sister and husband on a cruise last year which younger daughter thoroughly enjoyed.
I wish you a happy sponsorship. Like you, I've never been much good at it. I think what is different this time is Abbot James, more than anything that's changed in me. What drew you to your man?
I know nothing about G. (my sponsor) except that he has been in Al Anon for several years and showed an interest in being my sponsor.
Sponsorship is relationship that, in theory at least, can be terminated at any time for any reason by either party without fuss or hurt feelings. And i wanted to get a sponsor early in the game and not waste time as in previous incarnations where i was without a sponsor of nearly two years, had one long enough to do a Fifth step, and then went back on my own.
I went to a meeting today that consisted of sixteen women and me. I am sure that is not typical; but it is not uncommon for a male to feel surrounded by a sea of mothers, wives, daughters. girl friends and sisters of alcoholics. Al Anon discourages heterosexual relationships between sponsors and "sponsees."
G. seems to be working the program and i think that is all i need or should ask for at this point.
