First of all, I am neither a skater nor a dancer.  I am also not a businessman.  I have not idea about whether I can distinguish "good" dancing from "bad" dancing (except I know I am NOT a good dancer) or "good" business from "bad" business; there are some dances I won't watch and some businesses I won't do business with ( Read more... )

1. I love you.
2. I don't think we can depend on any system to Make Things Right, regardless of our operations within the system, because a rule is a lever.
3. I think we're called to a slackrope life of compassion and mindfulness. I bet you do, too.

2. I agree. But some rules are necessary. We may have to redefine "obedience." so as to put the questioning of authority on the same level of dignity as obedience to authority.
3. Yes, I do; although "slackrope" is not in my dictionary.
(Now it is. There are two very different definitions; both seem to fit your comment.

The ends are not in our hands. Our creativity is insufficient to even imagine the ideal ends in any kind of realistic detail, anyway, much less figure out how to get there. Ours is to act justly, lovingly, peacefully, and the outcomes are left to Someone else.
