Ah, bhakti, salvation of self and hope of worlds. But also, in some cases, wasteful and grotesque destruction of world and self. And why not? Every tool has two ends.

True. And Mystery beyond mystery beyond mystery is always a little tough to put into words. The Tao that can be named is not the Tao. I want to replace "Self" with some other word, but which?

That the slayer never really slays
nor is the slain really slain
Does not mean we can run around forever
playing "cops and robbers."

Love. Easier said then done in my mind. Being the recipient that is. BUT the Gita's words ring true I think.

Dosteyevski's Father Yoshima said it well: Love in real life can be a harsh and dreadful thing. I think it is part of my job to try to help make it as lenient and unscary as possible.

As you travel toward the source of the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita where i will never go, i look forward to being able to share vicariously some of your experiences there.

You are welcome to visit India vicariously with me. Out of curiosity, why do you say you'd never go?

I do not mean i would not want to go. But at age 81 and somewhat encumbered and with other things on my "bucket list" it is highly unlikely that i will get to go to India.
