As I messaged you, I think that Socrates's "proof" of the souls' immortality is horrible flapdoodle. :D And I think his friends are humouring him. I think this is probably pretty close to the historical Socrates in part because the arguments as such as nothing to brag of.

In my view the more "Platonic" dialogues have more interesting, less obviously horrendous arguments, and the themes are more enegaging.

Not that one should demand entertainment of a friend who's in the process of being executed by poison.

Though apparently Socrates found it soothing to have his friends ask for his arguments.

I'll try to finish reading and annotating the Phaedo tomorrow, and post.
