i have heard this before about shamens. it is interesting considering the supposed lack of empathy...

Ah, yes. Good point. Is it possible that the autist;s empathy is not missing, but just different, and thus not recognizable as such. I don't feel your pain, but i feel something when you hurt that isn't pleasure.
